Isaac turned four on July 21! I can't believe how big my little boy is! We had an eventful week of fun activities and I think he really enjoyed himself.
On Tuesday, the actual day of his birthday, I took him to the dollar movie that Cinemark has for kids during the summer. That week it was Kung Fu Panda, which none of us had seen before, so we loved it!
On Wednesday, we went to the circus. My best friend, Myriam, bought us tickets as Isaac's birthday gift! Wow! I hadn't been to the circus since I was a very small child. Both Isaac and Javi had tons of fun especially because all of Myriam's nieces and nephews were there. Javi was dancing the whole time.
On Friday, we had a small celebration with family. He enjoyed the company of his cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandmother.
I love to make the boys' birthday cakes, and as you well know, I tend to go a little overboard! Well, this year Isaac told me he wanted a cake from "Yo Gabba Gabba". So, we looked at pictures online and he told me he wanted the yellow one, Plex. So, I showed him some pictures of cakes that were just of his head (which would have been so easy to make), but he told me he wanted his whole body! So, since it was for his birthday, I couldn't say no. I had planned to make the cake in several parts over a period of three days, but with the house craziness, it didn't happen! So, Eric helped me and we stayed up until 4AM on Friday to finish the cake so we could have it ready for Friday evening. When I woke up the next morning, the cake had crumpled under its own weight! Of course, I cried! Even Isaac got sad, but I think only because I was upset! So, I made a couple of box cakes that day and tried to salvage it. I wanted my little boy to have the cake he wanted! :)
Isaac has changed and developed so much this year. He talks non-stop and can carry a conversation in either English or Spanish. He is fascinated with machines or anything mechanical or electronic. He has a fettish for washing machines--its quite amusing! He really enjoys being in the garden and learning about plants. He is a great big brother and loves to show Javi everything he knows, but also loves teasing him! He still enjoys cooking--his favorite is making pancakes with Abuelo on Saturday mornings! He loves primary (at church), which he loves to re-enact every Sunday for us! He is becoming more and more independent, which makes me sad at times because I feel like he is growing up so fast! We love our biggest boy!
This is a seriously cute cake. You should go into business to make children's cakes.
