"Jason"

We are expecting our third son in mid-October! We are all excited for his arrival, and hope to be somewhat settled in our new house before the big day! Isaac is very curious about the baby. When I asked him what he wanted to name the baby, his first response was, "El SeƱor"! That lasted a few days. Then, he decided that he wanted to name him Jason. This was even before I had the ultrasound and knew it was a boy. He always asks if Jason is coming out yet and always tells me he loves Jason. We're not quite sure where he go the name Jason because he doesn't know anyone named Jason. He refers to the baby so much as Jason, that we all call him Jason now. That is not what we want to name him. Honestly, we haven't picked a name for him yet, but it won't be Jason. Everytime I ask Isaac if he likes another name, he responds, "No, just Jason." Hopefully, Isaac will grow accustomed to another name! :)

Isaac's Birthday

Isaac turned four on July 21! I can't believe how big my little boy is! We had an eventful week of fun activities and I think he really enjoyed himself.

On Tuesday, the actual day of his birthday, I took him to the dollar movie that Cinemark has for kids during the summer. That week it was Kung Fu Panda, which none of us had seen before, so we loved it!

On Wednesday, we went to the circus. My best friend, Myriam, bought us tickets as Isaac's birthday gift! Wow! I hadn't been to the circus since I was a very small child. Both Isaac and Javi had tons of fun especially because all of Myriam's nieces and nephews were there. Javi was dancing the whole time.

On Friday, we had a small celebration with family. He enjoyed the company of his cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandmother.

I love to make the boys' birthday cakes, and as you well know, I tend to go a little overboard! Well, this year Isaac told me he wanted a cake from "Yo Gabba Gabba". So, we looked at pictures online and he told me he wanted the yellow one, Plex. So, I showed him some pictures of cakes that were just of his head (which would have been so easy to make), but he told me he wanted his whole body! So, since it was for his birthday, I couldn't say no. I had planned to make the cake in several parts over a period of three days, but with the house craziness, it didn't happen! So, Eric helped me and we stayed up until 4AM on Friday to finish the cake so we could have it ready for Friday evening. When I woke up the next morning, the cake had crumpled under its own weight! Of course, I cried! Even Isaac got sad, but I think only because I was upset! So, I made a couple of box cakes that day and tried to salvage it. I wanted my little boy to have the cake he wanted! :)

Isaac has changed and developed so much this year. He talks non-stop and can carry a conversation in either English or Spanish. He is fascinated with machines or anything mechanical or electronic. He has a fettish for washing machines--its quite amusing! He really enjoys being in the garden and learning about plants. He is a great big brother and loves to show Javi everything he knows, but also loves teasing him! He still enjoys cooking--his favorite is making pancakes with Abuelo on Saturday mornings! He loves primary (at church), which he loves to re-enact every Sunday for us! He is becoming more and more independent, which makes me sad at times because I feel like he is growing up so fast! We love our biggest boy!

Michael Jackson/You Tube Fanatics

Part of the nighttime routine for the boys is to watch YouTube videos. It started with very normal children's videos like Thomas the Train, etc. When Michael Jackson passed away, my dad showed them a bunch of Michael Jackson videos. Their favorite became "Beat It". I don't think I would have ever imagined that my children would become Michael Jackson fans! So, when they were eating dinner one night, my dad started singing "Eat It" thinking he was being funny and inventing a song, but I had to break it to him that Weird Al Yankovic had beat him to it. So, then they watched Weird Al Yankovic videos! So, Javi's favorite song became "Eat It". He sings it constantly and dances to it. Here is a video of his rendition! :)

So, I think this has now become their favorite YouTube video, click here to watch! :)

Two Pees in a Pot

I am sure my boys will hate me later for posting this picture, but I couldn't help it! Javi is now potty training (way before I ever expected him to), and Isaac is a great teacher! Javi is actually picking up on it pretty quickly, although he has some good days and some bad days! They both love to read books while sitting on the potty (actually they won't sit unless there are books for them to read!)
Eric and I (mostly Eric) have been busy with the house construction, but we try to maintain some normalcy for the kids. Most every morning we go with my parents and walk the dogs. The boys love this, and want to hold the dogs' chains.

Here they both are "helping" my dad harvest the vegetables in their garden. They both love to be out there, and Isaac has learned all about plants and worms.
